I’m planning on putting together a round-up of ACL 2008, but quickly wanted to post this important notice regarding the Brian Long facial grooming adventure.  This is in no way an effort to suppress the movement represented by this Facebook group.

Actions speak louder than words so I have decided that I will dispel these vicious rumors by posting at least once, every day, for one month beginning today.  This post does not count.  Enjoy.

Update: yeah, so no posts since 9/18 means I’m a liar.  This will change shortly or the Geisenblog will be donated to science.

Caption: Brian Long reacts to today’s news regarding CBSi’s grooming standard.  “I didn’t expect to be told by Sean Cullinane to ‘police my moustache’ in such a forceful manner,” said Brian Long after sobbing uncontrollably for over 25 minutes.   Brian, and all former CNET Networks employees, are expected to adhere to CBS’ grooming standard immediately.

“Just Lasers and Data”

It’s a shame that Steve doesn’t like Radiohead.  I suppose he’d rather tout his contrarian credentials than succumb to enjoying a contemporary band that’s well liked by a large swath of the human population.  Steve’s asinine musical tastes aside, it’s interesting that it’s taken several days for this video blow up.  It first appeared last week and it seems that it’s taken until today for the heavyweights to weigh in.  Rather than do some data-mining, I’ll just theorize that the iPhone 3G monopolized the attention of those most susceptible to the charms of lasers and data.
